Getting started
What SAMPBX is
An IP PBX for a company, with an admin panel in the browser: what it can do in version 0.3 and how the panel is organized.
For PBX version 0.3 (alpha)
SAMPBX is an IP PBX for a company. It connects employees with each other and with the outside world: it receives calls from telephony providers, sends them along routes, to voice menus and queues, and records conversations. Everything is set up in the admin panel, which opens in a browser.
What version 0.3 can do
- employee extensions and the SIP phones and softphones connected to them;
- connections to telephony providers (trunks) — by login and password or by IP address;
- inbound and outbound routes, employees’ call rights;
- voice menus (IVR), queues, ring groups, working hours and holidays;
- your own sounds, music on hold and announcements;
- call recording and the call log;
- links to another PBX by extension numbers;
- protection: a firewall, blocking of password guessing, toll fraud protection;
- backups, logs and diagnostics.
How the panel is organized
On the left are the menu sections, each with its own pages:
| Section | Pages |
|---|---|
| “Monitoring” | “Overview” |
| “Calls” | “Call log”, “Call recordings” |
| “Employees” | “Extensions” |
| “Routing” | “Inbound routes”, “Outbound routes”, “Call rights”, “IVR menus”, “Queues”, “Ring groups”, “Working hours”, “Announcements” |
| “Features” | “Sounds and music” |
| “Connections” | “Trunks and providers”, “Link to another PBX” |
| “System” | “General settings”, “Network”, “Security”, “Logs and diagnostics”, “Change log”, “Maintenance”, “Backups”, “Updates” |
Only the administrator sees the pages “Logs and diagnostics”, “Change log”, “Maintenance”, “Backups” and “Updates”. Queues, ring groups, voice menus, announcements, working hours and links to another PBX can be turned off in “General settings” → “Features” — their pages then disappear from the menu.
You choose the panel language in the user menu, item “Language”: Russian, Uzbek (Latin or Cyrillic script) or English.
Save and apply
Changes in the panel work in two steps. The “Save” button stores a setting. The PBX starts using it after the “Apply” button in the yellow bar at the top of the page — the bar says “Saved but not applied”. This way you can prepare several changes and apply them at once. How to read this documentation
- Names in quotes are what the screen shows: menu items, buttons, fields.
- The articles are written for PBX version 0.3 (alpha). You can see your PBX’s version on the “Updates” page.
- If you do not find the answer, write a request in the customer portal — the link is at the bottom of every article.
