Setup

Outbound calls and rights

How to set up outside calls through a provider, a backup trunk, the outbound number and employees’ call rights.

For PBX version 0.3 (alpha)

Outbound routes

An outbound route tells the PBX through which provider to call a dialed number. Routes are in “Routing” → “Outbound routes”.

  1. Click “New route”.
  2. “Number pattern” — which numbers go through this route. Ready-made options are in “Ready-made patterns…”: all numbers, Uzbekistan mobile numbers, international numbers.
  3. “Provider” — which trunk to call through.
  4. “Who may call through this rule” — everyone, or chosen extensions and departments.
  5. If the provider needs the number in another form: “Digits to strip at the start” and “Prepend”.
  6. “Outgoing number” — the number of this line, the employee’s number, or a hidden number.
  7. Click “Save”, then “Apply”.

The “Test a number” button shows which route and which provider a number would go through and whether it is allowed — without dialing anything.

Outside line

The outside line digit — none, 9 or 0 — is set in “General settings” → “Numbering plan”, in the “Outside line” field.

Backup provider

A number goes out by the most exact matching pattern. If several routes have the same pattern, they are tried by “Priority”: if the first provider is unreachable or overloaded, the call goes to the next one. In the list, the first one is marked “Primary”, and the next ones are marked as backups with a number.

Call rights

Rights define where an employee may call. They are in “Routing” → “Call rights”.

  • Rights are grouped in profiles. For each direction — “Internal”, “City”, “Mobile”, “Long distance”, “International”, “Paid and satellite” — a profile sets “Allowed”, “With PIN” or “Forbidden”.
  • Emergency numbers are always allowed.
  • “Profile PIN” — 4 to 8 digits, for the “With PIN” directions.
  • “Minutes per call” and “External calls per day” limit calls; 0 means no limit.
  • A profile is assigned to departments and extensions. You can also choose an extension’s profile in its settings, in the “Call rights” field.

A new PBX already has a profile that allows everything. Rights start working after “Apply”.

If an extension’s password is cracked, “Toll fraud protection” also guards against expensive calls — Security.
