Providers (trunks)
How to connect the PBX to a telecom operator — by login and password or by IP address — check the connection and understand its status.
For PBX version 0.3 (alpha)
A trunk is the PBX’s connection to a telephony provider. Through it, calls to your city and mobile numbers come in, and your outside calls go out. Trunks are in “Connections” → “Trunks and providers”.
What to get from the provider
- the address and port of the provider’s SIP server;
- the connection method: by login and password (registration) or by IP address;
- the login and password — for a connection with registration;
- your numbers (DID) and in what form the provider sends them.
For a connection by IP address, tell the provider the PBX’s external IP address — it is shown in “System” → “Network”.
Connect a provider
- Click “Add trunk”. “New connection” opens.
- “Choose an operator”. Popular operators in Uzbekistan have presets marked “preset”; for the others, there is “Another SIP provider”.
- Fill in “Provider server”, “Port”, “Login” and “Password” (a connection by IP has no login and password).
- In “Outbound number (Caller ID)”, enter the number people see when you call outside.
- When you create the trunk, you can set up routes right away: “Create an outbound route now: all numbers through this trunk” and “Send inbound calls to” — choose the number that will take all inbound calls.
- Click “Check connection”, then “Create” and “Apply”.
The presets’ parameters have not been confirmed by the operators yet, and their server addresses are empty. Check every field against your contract or your operator’s instructions.
Advanced settings
The “More: code, From user, registration, codecs” block has “Register with the provider”, “Transport”, “DTMF”, “Connection check, s” and “Codecs”. There you also set where the provider sends your number (“Number called is in”) and in what form to pass it the dialed number (“Dialed number — to the provider”). Change them only by the provider’s instructions.
“Simultaneous calls” limits the number of calls through the trunk; 0 means no limit.
Connection status
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| “Registered” | the PBX signed in to the provider with the login and password |
| “Reachable” | the provider answers the connection check |
| “Not registered” | the registration failed |
| “Rejected” | the provider refused: wrong login, password or address |
| “Unreachable” | the provider does not answer |
| “Disabled” | the trunk is turned off in the panel |
On the trunk card, the “Monitoring” tab shows the connection history, and the “Check now” button checks the connection again. What to do if a trunk does not connect — in the article Common problems.
Provider numbers
On the trunk card, in the “Numbers (DID)” section, list your numbers with this provider — then you can choose them in inbound routes. Numbers are added one by one, as a range or from CSV.
