Server console

The screen on the server’s monitor: the panel address and installation code, an administrator password reset, lifting access limits, and the PIN.

For PBX version 0.3 (alpha)

The server console is the screen that SAMPBX shows on the server’s own monitor (or in the virtual machine console of your hosting provider). You need it when the panel cannot be opened or the administrator’s password is forgotten.

What is on the screen

  • the panel address and a QR code with a link to it;
  • the installation code for the first sign-in — it changes after every reboot;
  • the PBX state: services, network, backups, version.

Press Enter, and the menu opens. Its main items:

ItemWhen you need it
“Reset the administrator’s password”the panel password is forgotten
“Lift the panel’s access limits”the panel stopped opening after a change of the access settings
“Reset the sign-in limits”signing in to the panel is blocked after wrong passwords
“Set up the network”the server’s address has changed, or the network does not work
“Backup to USB / restore”save a backup to a USB stick or restore one from it

The panel shows every action on the console to the administrator: a message “On the server’s console:” with what was done appears at the top.

Administrator password reset

  1. Choose “Reset the administrator’s password”.
  2. The console shows a temporary password.
  3. Sign in to the panel with the login admin and this password.
  4. The panel opens “Set a new password”: enter the “Temporary password” and a new password.

Console PIN

You can lock the console menu with a PIN so that a stranger at the server cannot use it: “General settings” → “Server console”, the “Set the PIN” button. The PIN has 4 to 8 digits; after 3 wrong attempts, the menu is locked for 5 minutes.
