Link to another PBX
How to call the numbers of another PBX — a branch office, an old PBX or a second SAMPBX — by extension, without a telecom operator.
For PBX version 0.3 (alpha)
A link to another PBX lets you call the employees of another PBX by their extensions — for example, at a branch office, or on the old PBX while you move to SAMPBX. Links are in “Connections” → “Link to another PBX”.
Create a link
- Click “New link”.
- Choose which PBX is on the other side: Asterisk, FreePBX or Issabel, SAMPBX, MikoPBX, 3CX, Yeastar, Grandstream UCM or another SIP PBX.
- Choose how to connect: by IP address, with registration by login and password, or over VPN (WireGuard).
- Enter the numbers of that PBX, for example
100-299, and prefixes if needed — yours and theirs. - In the protection section, decide whether that PBX may make outside calls through your providers (it may not by default) and how many simultaneous calls to allow.
- “Save”, then “Apply”.
After saving, the panel shows ready-made settings for the other side — pass them to the administrator of the other PBX.
Two SAMPBX systems
If the other side is SAMPBX too, it is easier to connect with a code: on one PBX click “Code for another SAMPBX”, on the other one click “Enter link string” and paste the string you got.
Ports
For a link over VPN, open port 51820/udp. A link by IP or with registration needs the SIP port — as for a provider.
