Updates

Who updates a version 0.3 PBX, how an update goes, where to see the installed version and the update history.

For PBX version 0.3 (alpha)

In version 0.3 (alpha), SAMPRO engineers update the PBX: they agree on a time with you and check the PBX after the update.

Where the version is shown

“System” → “Updates” — the page header shows which SAMPBX version is installed. Below it is the “Update history”: when updates were installed and with what result. Only the administrator sees this page.

“Automatic updates” are off by default — an update does not start without the administrator.

How an update goes

An update goes in five steps:

  1. “Check” — the update package is checked.
  2. “Backup” — the PBX makes a backup before the update.
  3. “Update”.
  4. “Health check” — the PBX checks that everything works.
  5. “Way back on error” — if something is wrong, the PBX brings back the previous version by itself.

During the update, the panel is unavailable for a couple of minutes. Asterisk restarts when there are no calls, or at once — as you choose.

If an update failed

The panel shows that the update failed and the previous version is running. In the “Update history”, such an update is marked as rolled back. The backup made before the update stays in “Backups”.

If the PBX does not work as it should after an update, write a request in the customer portal.
